Kitty Kaboom Gold Paw Guide: How to Smash Everything

Kitty Kaboom Gold Paw Guide: How to Smash Everything

You earn a Gold Paw in Kitty Kaboom by winning a level after breaking every breakable block on it. Robots aren’t part of the count, since you have to beat them all to win anyway. Fixed scenery, moving platforms and pink cushions don’t count either. The first Gold Paw on each level pays 50 coins on top of the normal reward, and it has nothing to do with stars, so you can use every cat in the lineup.

The catch is timing. The level ends as soon as the last robot is gone and everything settles, so anything still standing at that moment stays standing.

What counts toward the Gold Paw? #

Counts: every loose block on the level. That’s cardboard, glass, soap, wood, brick, metal and battery packs, including hanging pieces like wrecking balls and swinging washline platforms.

Doesn’t count:

  • Fixed scenery, meaning the pieces that stay put when you hit them, like the metal legs in Skylight (2-8)
  • Moving platforms in TidyBot HQ
  • Pink cushions, which can’t be broken

Which levels have no Gold Paw? #

Six of the 60 campaign levels have nothing breakable, so there’s no Gold Paw to win on them:

LevelWhy
1-1 First PounceNo blocks at all
1-2 Double TroubleNo blocks at all
1-6 TrampolineOnly a cushion and a fixed perch
1-13 Bounce HouseOnly a cushion and fixed perches
4-1 Zip ItOnly a fixed metal pillar
4-5 Patrol RouteOnly moving platforms

That leaves 54 Gold Paws to collect across the campaign.

The rule that matters: save one robot for last #

Because the level ends when the last robot goes down and the scene settles, a Gold Paw run is really a race to break every block before you finish the robots. The fix is simple: pick one robot to leave standing until the end.

  1. Count the loose blocks before your first shot.
  2. Choose the robot you’ll save for last. Pick one that’s easy to reach and isn’t standing on anything you still need to break.
  3. Break the blocks farthest from that robot first. Batteries and chain reactions are your friends here.
  4. Check what’s left after every shot. A small block tucked behind a wall is the usual reason a run falls short.
  5. Finish the saved robot last, ideally with a shot that also takes out the final block or two.

If you run out of cats with one block left, the optional ad for two extra cats keeps the attempt alive. A win after that is only one star, but the Gold Paw still counts, and the game keeps your best star result from earlier runs.

Should you go for stars and the Gold Paw together? #

Usually not. Three stars means winning with half your cats or fewer, while a Gold Paw often takes every cat you have. Do a tidy run for the stars, then a messy run for the paw. Restarting is free and there are no lives, so separate attempts cost nothing. The star rules are in how to get three stars in Kitty Kaboom.

The easiest Gold Paws #

Levels built from glass, cardboard and soap are the quickest, because those blocks break easily and don’t hide behind much. Good ones to clear early:

  • Boxed In (1-3): one cardboard box
  • Window Shopping (1-5): two glass panes
  • Card Tower (1-7) and Litter Storm (2-6): three cardboard boxes each
  • Skylight (2-8) and The Drain (3-13): a single glass pane each
  • Slippery Stack (3-2) and Pop the Bubbles (3-12): all soap
  • Squeaky Clean (3-7) and Opera Night (3-8): all glass
  • Foam Fort (3-6) and The Compactor (4-12): one soap block each

Levels with Yowl in the lineup are the easiest of all, because her yowl shatters every glass and soap block within range. Opera Night, Sudsy Skyline (3-11) and Pop the Bubbles all give you Yowl.

The hardest Gold Paws #

The tough ones combine lots of heavy blocks with pieces that are awkward to reach:

LevelBreakable blocksWhat makes it hard
3-14 Spin Dry3 metal, 2 brickTwo swinging metal wrecking balls count
3-15 Factory Boss3 metal, soap, battery, brickA metal fort around a Tidy Prime
4-4 Server Room3 metal, 2 batteriesThree metal pillars in a row
4-7 The Vault4 metal, batteryThe whole vault is metal
4-8 Magnet School4 metalNothing light to start a chain
4-11 Panic Room4 metal, 2 brickA double-stacked metal and brick fort
4-15 TIDY PRIME4 metal, 2 batteries, brickSeven pieces, tied for the most in the game

Wrecking Ball (2-12) and Water Tower (2-9) are sneaky too: each has one metal ball that counts as a breakable block.

How do you break the heavy blocks? #

Brick and metal are rated far tougher than wood, and a blast on its own often leaves them standing. These are the ways that work:

  • Fast, square hits. A cat arriving at full speed breaks most blocks it hits head-on, metal included. Pull to full power and aim at the block itself.
  • Falls. A heavy block that drops hard onto the ground or another block usually breaks. Knock the legs out and let gravity do it.
  • Chonk’s slam. He’s the heaviest cat, and his slam makes him heavier still. Lob him over the block and tap.
  • Batteries. Their explosions add force and fling debris into everything nearby.
  • Upgrades. Yowl’s top tier weakens tougher blocks in range, and Gizmo’s top tier pulls every loose block toward her, not just metal.

The Kitty Kaboom cats and powers guide explains each of these powers in detail.

How many coins is a Gold Paw worth? #

The first Gold Paw on a level adds 50 coins to that level’s payout. If you’re on a Hot Paws streak (three or more wins in a row), the whole payout is multiplied by 1.5, Gold Paw included. The optional ad on the victory screen doubles the full amount too. Repeat Gold Paws on the same level don’t pay again.

Gold Paw hunting is one of the better coin sources in Kitty Kaboom, right behind new stars and the daily challenge. For more ways to smash efficiently, see our Kitty Kaboom tips and tricks.

Frequently asked questions #

Do robots count toward the Gold Paw? #

No. You have to beat every robot to win the level at all, so the Gold Paw only tracks blocks. What matters is breaking every loose block before the last robot goes down.

Do you need three stars for a Gold Paw? #

No. The two are tracked separately. You can earn a Gold Paw on a one-star win, and the game remembers your best star count from any earlier run.

Can you earn a Gold Paw on the daily challenge? #

The daily challenge pays by stars only, 50 coins per star, and doesn’t record Gold Paws. Gold Paws are a campaign feature.

Why didn’t I get a Gold Paw when everything looked destroyed? #

Usually a block survived somewhere you didn’t look, like a hanging ball or a piece behind a wall, or the last robot fell before a block finished breaking. Next time, save one robot for last and check the screen before the final shot.

How many Gold Paws are there in Kitty Kaboom? #

Fifty-four. Six of the 60 campaign levels have no breakable blocks, so they have no Gold Paw.
