Kitty Kaboom Daily Challenge: Streaks, Coins and Tips

The Kitty Kaboom daily challenge is one new level per day, and every player in the world gets the same one. Tap DAILY on the title screen to play it. Each star pays 50 coins, and winning on consecutive days builds a streak that also raises the value of your daily gift. The level changes at midnight UTC, which is 8 p.m. Eastern during US daylight saving time.

You can play it from your first day, before you’ve finished any of the campaign, and you can replay it as often as you like until the day rolls over.

How does the daily challenge work? #

The daily level is generated from the calendar date. The same date always produces the same layout, which is how every player gets an identical level without the game needing a server. It also means the daily works offline.

Each day’s level mixes up a few things:

  • Difficulty: rated 1 to 5, shown in the hint when the level starts
  • Your lineup: four or five cats, always starting with Pounce and Boomer, with the rest drawn from all seven cats
  • Robots: usually a handful, occasionally including one Tidy Prime
  • Blocks: a random scatter of wood, cardboard, glass, brick, metal, soap and battery packs

The lineup can include cats you haven’t earned in the campaign yet. If you’ve never played with Gizmo or Yowl, the daily is where you might meet them early. Our cats and powers guide explains what each one does.

What time does the Kitty Kaboom daily challenge reset? #

At midnight UTC. For most players outside Europe and Africa that’s not midnight local time, so the new day starts in the evening or afternoon:

Time zoneSummer (daylight time)Winter (standard time)
US Eastern8 p.m.7 p.m.
US Central7 p.m.6 p.m.
US Mountain6 p.m.5 p.m.
US Pacific5 p.m.4 p.m.
UK1 a.m.Midnight
Central Europe2 a.m.1 a.m.

This matters for streaks. If you’re in New York and play every night at 9 p.m., you’re playing the next UTC day’s level. That’s fine as long as you’re consistent. Where people slip up is playing at 9 p.m. one night and 10 a.m. two days later, which skips a UTC day.

How do daily challenge streaks work? #

Win the daily and your streak counts that day. Win again on the next UTC day and it goes up by one. Miss a day, and your next win starts the count over at one. The game also keeps your best-ever streak, and the daily screen shows your current streak, your best, and today’s stars.

Some things that don’t affect your streak:

  • Losing. A failed daily attempt costs nothing. Retry as many times as you like.
  • Replaying after a win. Once you’ve won, replaying only gives you a chance to improve today’s star count.
  • The campaign. The daily and campaign are tracked separately, and a daily loss doesn’t reset your Hot Paws win streak in the campaign.

What does the daily challenge pay? #

RewardAmountNotes
Daily win50 coins per starUp to 150 coins for three stars
Double coins2x the daily payoutOptional ad on the victory screen
Daily gift100 coins + 10 per streak dayOptional ad on the title screen, once per UTC day

The daily gift is where the streak pays off. At a seven-day streak it’s worth 170 coins, and at a thirty-day streak 400. So a long streak makes the gift worth claiming each day. Both ads are optional, and the daily itself pays whether or not you watch anything.

Coins go toward cat upgrades and hats. We rank what to buy first in the best Kitty Kaboom upgrades and hats.

How to three-star the daily challenge #

Stars work the same as in the campaign: win using half your lineup or fewer, rounded up, for three stars. A four-cat daily means two cats. A five-cat daily means three. The rule is covered in detail in how to get three stars in Kitty Kaboom.

Random levels play differently from hand-built ones, so a few habits help:

  1. Check the difficulty in the hint. On a 1 or 2, go for three stars from the first shot. On a 5, a clean win is a good day.
  2. Find the batteries. The random mix includes battery packs, and one well-aimed hit can chain through several.
  3. Use Boomer on the biggest cluster. He’s in every daily lineup, so plan around him.
  4. Reorder your cats. Tap a cat in the queue to swap it onto the slingshot. If the day hands you Yowl and there’s glass everywhere, send her first.
  5. Read the layout before shooting. Random blocks don’t always form neat towers, so look for robots standing on something you can knock away.
  6. Restart freely. There are no lives. If the first shot goes wrong, restart rather than using the rest of your cats.
  7. Replay after a win. The game keeps your best star count for the day, so a first win takes the pressure off.

Since the daily is the same for everyone, it’s also a good one to compare with friends. Neither of you can say you got an easier level.

The daily challenge is free in Kitty Kaboom on iPhone, iPad and Android, and it works without an internet connection. More general advice is in our Kitty Kaboom tips and tricks.

Frequently asked questions #

Is the Kitty Kaboom daily challenge the same for everyone? #

Yes. The level is generated from the date, so every player gets exactly the same layout and lineup on a given UTC day.

What time does the daily challenge reset? #

Midnight UTC. That’s 8 p.m. Eastern and 5 p.m. Pacific during US daylight saving time, and an hour earlier in winter.

Does losing the daily challenge break my streak? #

No. Only a day with no win breaks it. You can fail as many times as you want, as long as you win once per UTC day.

Do you need to finish the campaign to play the daily? #

No. The DAILY button is on the title screen from the start, and the daily gives you cats from the whole roster, including ones you haven’t earned yet.

Can you play yesterday’s daily challenge? #

No. The game only offers the current day’s level. When the day rolls over at midnight UTC, the old level is gone.
